A Twisted Fate

I went to watch it last night with two lovely friends and I must say, we all thought it was bloody fantastic! 3...ahem..intelligent AND critical ladies, saying that is well, saying something! It is downright laugh-out-loud hilarious! sure, the plot was predictable, i mean, there's only so many ways a whodunit can go right? but the characters, the set, costumes, acting, and of course the music was simly fab! am i surprised it won 1997's musical award? naaahh.... it was worth watching it, i thought!

and the English rose, emma west, played by Laura Michelle Kelly...i think she blowed us over with her lovely singing! and she's incredibly pretty! floored by her lovely voice and accent, that, if u talk to me and spot an accent...yeah, well, this is me action-action want to be english too! haha (it always happens..whenever i watch/read/hear anything, i tend to get into character! bah!) of course she isnt the only one. the wife, she was most impressive! and absolutely hilarious! heck...i can go on and on with the entire cast! yes yes...it was a splendid show!

hmm..after reading what i just wrote, i realised that my review isn't all that professional, no? what on earth have i been learning in ts?? ah well, this aint a review, it's just how i felt thru the performance? so if u get the chance, go watch it! you'll love it!

ps: laura michelle kelly waved to us at the end of the show! *whee!* and apparently so did the lawyer!

Where are the Bed Planks?

Whoa i'm shagged! it's been such a looonnggg day! exam...well, it went ok. weird but ok. the sound was a lil messed up...i fumbled my lines once... and yes, it was a weird experience. but i'm surprised that my heart wasnt racing as much...i think i was much more frightened in the A-B-A-B session! aaah! but i'm worried that i didnt get any questions for the q & A. and don't tell me it's good! it's not! i know it was becos of lack of time that questions cldnt be directed to me! i mean, if i did anything wrong or different, i didnt have the chance to justify myself! was that fair?? aaaah! just hope it doesnt screw up my grade. or maybe they thot i was really bad and deserved an F and what's the point of justifying myself? so i can get an F+?? aaaaah! as u can see, i'm freaking out! aaaaaAAaaAAaaaaH!!!

ok...breathe! right... as i said, i got home really shagged, but wasnt in the mood to study anything. so pop goes the dvd player and i watched harold and kumar's whitecastle which is really lame, but pretty funny! and u know how i get after watching something...i so feel like going on a roadtrip! some lame roadtrip for something lame....like burgers! and getting into some inane situations that change the course of ur life completely like going to med school! yup! that's what i want to do!

now...i'm thinking...i'm 19 now, and in the prime of my youth, and what adventures have i got to boast for?? i haven't been arrested, i havent gotten nearly murdered, i havent been in a car crash nor trapped in an egyptian tomb. heck, the only thing i did was fall down a lot and climb a fence! hmmm...now i'm seriously thinking what is wrong with my life?? it isnt what i wanted! i wanted adventure! i'm acting in all sorts of scenarios for theatre but i'm not actually living them? is this what aristotle called suspended disbelief?? and plato...an imitation of an imitation? why is it that though we know what we want, it doesnt go the way we intended it to be? and before we realise it, it's a little to late. like what petrina says, what goes through ur mind and what comes out of ur mouth...it just aint the same.

maybe it's time to get a little control over our lives. in my case, that would be rather ironic.

Exams and Weddings?

Pretty much the reason why i havent had time to update my blog is the upcoming exams! yup yup.... in short, i'm screwed. and i have stayed in school till late just to study. hibernating in the library... which is actually fun! it's better to study with people than alone...forces u to study! and of course creates opportunities for rule breaking... like eating chips and tuna. haha...

but how is it possb that there's so much to study...like in such a short time! augh! macroecons is killing me slowly... sociology is teasing with my security and I think Islam is tricking me! TS is draining me and english...well, i haven't started on english! and while i went all out in the beginning, i think i'm starting to slowly burn out! NooOoo! like today! i so didnt get to study that sociology i planned to study! so i'm a day short. and i feel sick. must be the junk food. you know what? i think it's time have that vegetarian month streak again! i miss my carrots! and my kailan! and macs is a definite no-no! it's fasting all over again (almost)! whee! but maybe not now, still got that fish and co coming up! haha but it could just be the nerves! see... tomorrow is my TS practical and I'm freaking out! like yes! i am! the last time i acted on stage was when? sec 1? and that i had one line! (still remember it vividly. you would too if it was "Make love, not war!") and in jc1, no lines, but i remember that my hat fell off! and you know how red my face can bloody go! rehearsing with the lovely gals was fun! and i like playing the guy! so much more intense! yep! i'll be having my hair gelled up tomorrow..looking all ahem manly! decided not to chop off my hair after all! tch! not since i saw what it did to me the last time! i'm going to burn those photos! well, i'm hoping all goes well tomorrow and my face remains....er natural.

i may phaze out again the next 2 weeks. with reason u now know why. and when i'm done, i'll be baacck! and hoping that i'll be hopping on a plane to somewhere that doesnt resemble singapore...at all!

but december is filled with weddings! 4th is the day my ex-colleague's big day! what fun! my first kad jemputan addressed to me! and 9 to 11th is a family friend's one which i'm helping out! it's going to be beautiful! a little self-demoralising cos all the beautifuuuuul ladies from all over arabia will be coming down but all the same fun because it's my friend who's getting married!

Note to self: making jokes about marriage is now highly highly unwise and dangerous. at lunch today:

Me: so many relatives! tell you, i wouldnt know who to invite for my wedding.
Mom: really? when do you want to get married?
Me: oh you know... 2 yrs time. (joking face and joking voice)
Mom: InsyaAllah!
Me: (shocked) What?? No no... i'm just kidding.
Mom: (in prayer) Kemudah-mudahan. (something like hope it goes easily...bla bla)

mind you, i'm not getting married till i've graduated, established my career and has travelled a bit! so do the math, it's a far way off! moms can scare you.

right, i've written quite a bit, and quite frankly, i'm sick of it! haha...shall play Ping. ta ta!

The Last Minute Raya...

Right...so i haven't been posting lately. and there's LOADS that i want to tell! or.. i think i do! but so as not to confuse all thy little minds, you will see many posts..in one day. might as well get it done and over with eh? and it shall be peppered with pictures, i assure you! (should i figure out how to do that!)

let's start with hari raya. SELAMAT HARI RAYA EVERYONE!!! =D better late then never! it was fun while it lasted! that entire week was burnt because of cleaning, preparing, actual celebration, and continued celebration with visiting. much much better than last year, most definitely! for one thing, exams were out of the way! yeah baby! and i found out that i was not too old to get raya money! hehe... i'm practising great self-control now... must...spend...money...wisely. speaking of self-control, i can pretty much say that i have none when it comes to kueh raya. i dont like it pretty much (except for macaroons! and choc chip cookies! yums) but as they are always within my view, i keep mooching them. much easier than making a sandwich. and much easier to gain weight.

but the bestest part of raya is of course the family! did i mention that i love my family? aisyah...is now older..a good one-and-a-half yrs old and she is sooo adorable! check her out it her baju arab! Note: as i still havent figured out a way to block people from copying these pictures, might i warn that SHOULD ANYONE DARE SO TAKE THESE PICTURES, COPIED, SAVED OR MISUSED THEM IN ANY WAY I DEEM INAPPROPRIATE, I WILL HUNT YOU DOWN PERSONALLY AND WOE BEGONE TO MAN, WOMAN OR CHILD SHOULD YOU FIND YOURSELF LESS THAN YOUR USUAL SELF!!! there! now isn't she cute?? awww....

another one which is pretty cool i thot. i look horrible, my bro is er...hidden, but aisyah looks cool! haha

And my cousins! ok first day, i missed some of the little ones. but got to take many pics with the young "anak-anak dara". brrr... hate them term! actually, one is already married (my sis) and another is getting married next yr! i noticed how each yr, things are changing. wasn't it only yesterday ALL of us were deciding how better to play with the sparklers? of course one year, it burned a hole in a little one's gamis, and singed the hair of another. mind you, it was the boys ya? haha

And another 3+1 on the other side! the theme is obviously hot hot colours! haha....

right..i would put more but it is a very troublesome process! let me tell you a funny story instead. it was hari raya...late at night...and the old-school pple are still up (referring to parents with the older kids aka us..and we were there too!). the host is wishing no one would come because they're uber-tired! and we were just chilling and chatting. and you know how this goes...old stories crop up. and this was one we certainly hadn't heard! my aunt was telling us how my brother is pretty much rather blind. took place 2 yrs ago at my sister's wedding. imagine my brother and my cousin talking...

Bro: Hey I found out someone I think I like.

Cuz: Who?

Bro: There! Check out that chick.

Cuz: (looks through the throng of people) Where?

Bro: There! That chick!

Cuz: What chick? Where?

Bro: (directs cuz) that one!

Cuz: (shocked) Oi! That's my aunt!

LOL.... funny just too funny. the aunt wasnt exactly young...she's in her forties. and my bro found her attractive. what is more disturbing i cant tell...the fact that my bro really really is blind, or the fact that you can never tell who you're related too!

Another thing i found out about raya:

Forget all the fancy dishes! Ketupat? Rendang? Why waste time making them? tuch! No need to get into a hassle making all these elaborate dishes on hari raya when all you need is...

MEE MAGGI! *sparkling brilliant smile with a packet of mee maggi in tow*

That's right folks! THIS is the dish everyone should be making! Yummy...nutritious, and everyone loves them! Trust me...throw that casserole dish away and mass order some mee maggi! guaranteed to put a smile on everyone's face! =D

How did i come up with this brilliant theory? well, seeing that i cooked 4 bowls of mee maggi on the 2nd day for my cousins!
